Flare Individual Eyelashes are Not the Same as Eyelash Extensions

Flare Individual Eyelashes are not the same as Classic 1:1 Eyelash Extensions, nor are they the same lashes being used during the Russian Volume Eyelash Extension technique.

Cluster/ Flare Individual Eyelashes w/ a knotted base

Flare Individual Eyelashes are small clusters of lashes that consist of 3-12 lash strands that are usually held together by a small knot on the base. Flare lashes are also available without a knot ( knotless clusters/ flares). Classic 1:1 Eyelash Extensions are single eyelash strands, that are applied to your natural eyelash strands using a 1:1 technique.

The Flare Individual Eyelash service is much quicker and is also cheaper than the Classic 1:1 Eyelash Extensions Service. Even though they are both applied near your lash line; piece by piece these two are no where near being the exact same. For a better understanding of the two services and how they differ, we have the following info for comparison.

Flare Individual Eyelashes Vs. Classic 1:1 Eyelash Extensions

Flare Individual Eyelashes

If you’re a fan of eyelash extensions, but not so fond of the price or just want a quick alternative, than our flare lashes would be your go to choice for eyelash. Flare lashes are 3+ lash strands that are pre-bonded together in a fan like manner. The flare lashes have a small base that is hidden under your lashes.

We don’t use regular knotted flares or clusters for this technique, because we like to give the client a set of discreet eyelashes that blend with their natural lashes.  Our natural flare lashes are available in 7 different lengths, ranging from 6-14 and 3 different styles. We choose the best style for you, depending on the look and fullness that you desire. We apply the eyelashes in-between or under your natural eyelashes; next to one another. We can/ will attach them to each other if you have thin or sparse natural eyelashes.

Flare Lashes Additional Info:

  • We don’t recommend our clients to wear these over 2 weeks
  • You don’t get refills. The fan lashes must be removed, and a new set applied
  • You can easily remove these lashes using oil.
  • Cheaper than Individual Eyelashes and Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions
  • Shorter application time than Individual Eyelashes and Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions
  • Quick Voluminous Looks
  • Last longer than False Eyelashes / Strip Eyelash Extensions
  • Limited custom ability, unless you get this service done by us.

*Flare Eyelashes may be able to give you the same look as Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions, but are not to be used for Russian Volume Eyelash services.

Eyelash Extensions

We have a team of very skilled certified lash technicians / licensed cosmetologist that will apply your lash extensions using an 1:1 or lash-to-lash technique. We are able to create custom looks using multiple curl patterns, thicknesses, and lengths. The only limitation on the classic individual eyelash extensions is not being able to create super full looks, because the fullness is based on the number of natural eyelashes that you have per eye.

Eyelash Extensions Additional Info:

  • Eyelashes can last 6 to 8 weeks
  • Replicate your natural eyelashes, so that they’ll appear to be completely natural
  • Eyelash Extensions shed 1 by 1 with your natural lashes
  • Refills are needed every 2-3 weeks to maintain the flawless appearance of your eyelash extensions
  • Individual Eyelash Extensions have an 1-2 hour application time

Individual Lashes vs Eyelash Extensions
Now that you have the details about both methods of applying extensions to your natural eyelashes, be sure to take all of these details into careful consideration. The goal is to select an eyelash installation that works best for you.

Maintaining your eyelash installation can be time-consuming and costly. Contact C’ameleon Salon for a consultation, mention this article and receive a 10% discount on a flawless Eyelash Extensions  installation.

Do Hair Extensions Damage Hair? | Hair Extension Safety

We believe that wearing extensions will not result in damage to your natural hair. No matter the application and removal technique that’s being used by the professional; with the proper maintenance done by you, your hair will remain healthy.

During your hair extension consultation, you should ask your stylist about the maintenance process. It is very necessary that you care for your hair extensions daily, monthly, and have a scheduled maintenance depending on the type of extensions or the method that was used to install them.

Damage Causes and Prevention Methods: Could Hair Extensions Damage Hair?

  • Tightly pulling the hair at the scalp can cause breakage and hair loss. Have a professional securely apply your extensions, without extreme tension.
  • Wearing heavy extensions on weak hair or fine hair textures may result in breakage. Find the best application method for your hair type and texture.
  • Over worn/ grown extensions can cause your hair to become tangled & matted and the extension may become too heavy for your natural hair. Be sure to follow the proper removal process/ maintenance time frame for your type of extensions.
  • If your natural hair is braided underneath the extensions, allowing your natural hair to remain wet can produce mold and result in matted hair; avoid wetting your natural hair that’s underneath the extensions.

If damage has occured, it’s not that the hair extensions alone has caused damage, but the neglect of the extensions and the lack of proper care and the knowledge to do so.

What are Fusion Hair Extensions? | Houston, Texas

Fusion Hair Extensions are also referred to as Hot Fusion, keratin hair extensions and tip hair extensions. Fusion Hair Extensions is a hair extension technique that consist of small keratin tipped strands being attached strand by strand, row by row starting at the base of the head; working up the sides and back of the head.

A pack of Fusion Extensions include 20 fusion bonds. Every single bond is usually made up of 1 gram of individual hair strands, that are held together at the tip by a keratin glue. A full head of Fusions is about 5 to 9 packs of hair.

How to Apply Fusion Hair Extensions

Houston hair extension stylist will apply a fusion bond to a section of your natural hair that is equal to the size of the hair extension strand through the use of a hot tool (melting connector). The small plates at the end of the melting connector are used to melt and soften the fusion bonds, which allows the extension to be fused to your natural hair.

Once finished, the bonds are completely flat against the head and are covered by the upper layers of hair. After all the wefts have been installed, the stylist then blends and styles the hair so the extensions look completely natural. The Fusion Hair Extensions should last approximately 4-6 months and should be removed/ reinstalled every 2–3 months depending on the rate that the natural hair grows out.

Fusion Hair Extensions Pros and Cons

Pros of Fusion Extensions:

  • Permanent type of extensions and last about 4-6 months
  • Style versatility is high/ nearly endless
  • They last longer than any other type of hair extensions
  • Blends better than many other extension types
  • The extension colors do not fade (with the exception of pastel shades)
  • Best for maintaining the quality of your hair
  • Extensions look just as good the day you take them out as the day you put them in
  • Minimal maintenance needed

Cons of Fusion Extensions:

  • The glue can damage natural hair if the extensions are not removed properly
  • May need to get them redone 2-3 months after the installation
  • This type of extension is considered expensive due to the price of human hair as well as application.

Micro Link Weft Extensions | Houston, Texas Salon

Micro Link Weft Extensions – Salon Service

Micro Link Extensions is an extension method that is applied without the use of braids, or needle and thread as this is not a sew-in. Micro Link Weft Extensions can last up to 6 months and should be re-secured closer to the scalp every 3-4 weeks. Failure to have your extensions re-secured will allow your hair to overgrow, which can cause tangles, damage, and breakage.

To apply them, your natural hair will be parted, a weft extension will then be wedged between your hair pieces, your hair and pieces of hair from the extensions will then be slipped through the links and secured in order to hold the extension in place. This application method is extremely quick and very secure and because the method lacks the use of braids the extensions will lay flatter to the scalp without any bulkiness and look and feel very natural.

The Pros and Cons of Micro Link Weft Extensions

Pros:

  • Micro Link Weft Extensions add length and volume without the added weight of braids
  • While wearing these Braid-less Extensions you have the ability to wash your hair, swim, work out
  • You can add hair color, high/ low lights without the use of chemicals
  • You will be able to experiment with more hair styles
  • Micro Link Weft Extensions will not damage your natural hair when the proper tools and technique is used
  • Blends naturally and seamlessly with your natural hair and when the texture is matched, no one will know you are wearing hair extensions

Cons:

  • To have Micro Link Weft Extensions applied you must have about 3 inches of hair
  • The cost of Micro Link Weft Extensions installation, cut, and maintenance may be a couple of hundreds of dollars
  • Wearing extensions doesn’t mean you can be lazy, you must actually take care of the hair as if it were your own
  • You’ll have more hair to maintain if you plan to frequently style it on your own
  • Having extensions applied can take some getting use to, because of the added weight

Human Hair Extensions Vs. Synthetic Hair Extensions

If you’re wanting to try hair extensions for the first time and are wondering what the difference is between the qualities of hair, we’ve created a simple chart to help you distinguish the difference between Human Hair Extensions and Synthetic Extensions so that you would know what to expect while wearing a specific type of hair extension.

The Difference Between Human Hair Extensions and Synthetic Hair Extensions

Hair Extension Factors 100% Human Hair Extensions Synthetic Hair Extensions
Duration 1 year w/ care (approx.) 1-3 months with  very low maintenance
Styling
  • Can be cut
  • Can be styled w/ heated styling tools
  • Wide range of styling versatility.
  • Just like your natural hair, any style can be affected by humidity
May melt when exposed to heat. Polymer synthetic hair is heat resistant
Chemicals/ Coloring Can be colored and chemically altered to match your hair. *Lightening and Highlights can also be added Cannot be color treated. Chemical processing will cause damage to the hair fibers and may cause the hair to melt or loose it’s permanent texture/ pattern
Appearance Natural looking and will blend well with your natural hair when the texture is similar. Hair will reflect light the way natural hair would. Some may blend with your own hair to create an undetectable look.

Most fibers will have shiny looking strands that won’t appear to be completely natural.

Maintenance
  • Requires brushing and styling just as natural hair would.
  • Will hold a curl much longer than your natural hair would,
  • Use hair care products that are safe for both your hair and your extensions.
  • When shampooing, focus mainly on the extensions and try to avoid wetting your natural hair if the extensions have been applied after braiding your hair underneath, this will help you to keep your hair from matting, and mildewing. Never leave your natural hair wet, always dry your hair entirely.
  • Has “memory” and will hold its style.
  • Mousse can be used to reform curls.
  • Do not brush curls.
  • Shampooing may cause extreme tangles and matting.
Price Can be a bit costly, but can last up to 4 times as long as synthetic hair Not Very Costly

Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions | Houston, Texas Salon

Everything You Need to Know about Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions

Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions or Braided Strand-by-Strand Extensions are a hair extension type in Japan that is extremely safe for your natural hair and can be preformed on any hair type, or texture including fine and/ or short hair by simply folding a long piece of human or synthetic loose bulk hair and braiding it into a small section of the hair, and, securing it with either a rubber/ elastic band or string to keep it from falling out. This technique helps to create extra length, extra volume, and to add additional color/ highlights or low-lights without the use of chemical bonds, toxic glue, or metal clips that can damage your hair. (Damage is a factor of hair extensions, when one lacks the proper care and knowledge needed to safely maintain the extensions.)

The Pros and Cons of Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions

Pros of Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions

  • Human hair blends into your own hair well.
  • Very versatile, as you can do up-styles and down-styles.
  • Depending on their size and natural hair length, they’ll be easy to hide no matter what style you’re wearing.
  • You can curl and tease them like your own hair, if they’re human hair.
  • You’ll receive Instant length and volume.

Cons of Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions

  • Depending on tightness or scalp sensitivity, the extensions can feel painful for the first couple of days, or until they begin to grow and loosen
  • They can be very difficult to wash and may take quite a bit of time to dry if you wash them, just like your normal hair.
  • Removing them improperly ot by pulling them out, you can possibly cause bald-spots
  • If not installed correctly, they can feel quite uncomfortable to sleep on in general if they are too large and installed bunched together rather than spaced out for a much natural comfortable wear

How to Cleanse Your Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions

Cleansing of pinch braid extensions is best done by a professional to avoid damage or mildewing of extensions that weren’t dried entirely. Human hair extensions can be treated like your own in many cases, but they must not be left wet at the root or where they are applied to your natural hair. Synthetic hair is very heat sensitive, so exercise caution when blow drying or when near any heat source to avoid melting/ damaging the hair. Curling and straightening irons cannot be used.

For the safest cleansing, Follow the directions to avoid completely drenching your Japanese Pinch Braid Extensions.

  1. Before shampooing, completely brush your hair and extensions to remove any tangles from the hair. Hold your extensions and brush them from end to the root of application.
  2. Combine a mild shampoo with lukewarm water in an empty spray bottle, and give it a light shake to mix them.
  3. Section your hair by separating your natural hair from the natural hair with the applied extensions.
  4. You will need to spray the mixture on your natural hair section and then wrap one hand around your braid extensions and spray the hair below your braids only (If they get wet, you must dry them entirely at the end of this process using a blow dryer or hooded dryer.
    1. To just clean your scalp, dampen a towel with water and very little shampoo and use it to scrub your scalp.
  5. Massage and lather the shampoo in each section individually and try your best to rinse the sections individually

Brazilian Knot Extensions in Houston Texas Salon

The Brazilian Knot Extensions (AKA Dominican Knots method, Italian Knot Extension or Elastic Fusion) involves a piece of human or synthetic loose bulk hair extensions being applied and secured to your natural hair by wrapping and then tying an elastic thread around both your hair and the extension. For the most comfortable fit and undetectable results your hair should be at least 3-5 inches long and depending on the length & thickness of your hair and the look that you desire to have, they can be applied in under 5 hours, but will take at max. 10 hours. These extensions are very safe to wear consecutively for approximately 5 years.  After 5 years the condition of your hair and scalp must be reassessed periodically.

The Pros and Cons of Getting Brazilian Knot Hair Extensions

Pros

  • Compared to the pinch braid technique this extension application is a very discreet method
  • Brazilian knot extensions will create a very natural and undetectable hair extension wear
  • Relatively no damage to the hair, when taken care of properly
  • The single strands are very light, therefore they will not pull on your hair, as fusion glue or links would.
  • They will last (depending on the growth of your hair) between 3 to 4 months
  • The removal process is fairly easy

Cons

  • Brazilian knot extensions are time consuming and more expensive than basic extension methods
  • Can cause hair loss or thinning if not taken care of properly
  • Aren’t recommended for curlier textures of hair, because of tangling (The hair must be straigtened first)
  • Not every hair stylist can give you the undetectable appearance
  • May cause tenderness at scalp for the first few days

For the most comfortable fit and undetectable results your hair should be at least 3-5 inches long.

How long does it take to have Brazilian Knot Extensions applied?

Should I ‘rest’ my hair between services?
Brazilian Knot Extensions are very safe to wear consecutively for approximately 5 years.  After 5 years the condition of your hair and scalp must be reassessed periodically.

Once the Brazilian Knot Extensions are in, do they feel heavy?
When your hair extensions are first applied you will notice they are there, but they should feel more comfortable in 3-4 days

How to Care for Your Brazilian Knot Extensions

Yes.  You can continue to use hair color while wearing your Brazilian knot hair extensions.

Micro Link Weft Extensions – Braid-less Sew-in Extensions| Houston, Texas Salon

Braid-less Sew-in Extensions or Micro Link Weft Extensions – Salon Service

Braid-less sew-in hair extensions also known as micro link weft extensions are a type of extension application method for sew-in weave or wefts without the use of braids like the most popular, basic sew-in method.

What to Expect: Micro Link Weft Extensions Service

Your natural hair will be parted into small sections and the hair will be slipped through the links and secured in order to make a base for the extension weft to be applied. This application method is a great alternative to basic sew-in extensions, because it can be applied quicker, and the extensions lay flatter to the scalp without any bulkiness and look and feel very natural.

To have Micro Link Weft Extensions applied you must have about 3 inches of hair. While wearing Braid-less Sew-in Extensions you have the ability to wash your hair, swim, work out, and also color your hair while they’re installed. Micro Link Weft Extensions can last up to 6 months and should be re-secured closer to the scalp every 3-4 weeks. Failure to have your extensions re-secured will allow your hair to overgrow, which can cause tangles, damage, and breakage.

The Pros and Cons of Micro Link Weft Extensions

Pros:

  • Micro Link Weft Extensions add length and volume without the added weight of braids

Cons:

  • The cost of Micro Link Weft Extensions installation, cut, and maintenance may be a couple of hundreds of dollars
  • Wearing extensions doesn’t mean you can be lazy, you must actually take care of the hair as if it were your own
  • You’ll have more hair to maintain if you plan to frequently style it on your own
  • Having extensions applied can take some getting use to, because of the added weight
